Day 16: Feeling really bloated–geez! I just feel like I’ve gained weight, but the scale says its only by a pound. My skin has really cleared, but could it be due to the Aveeno Clear Skin Moisturizer I am using? Either way, my skin is starting to look GREAT! It recently had broke out a LOT, but looks really good now-with no breakouts. I’m also on my 4th day in a row of waking with a headache…I’m not sure what that is from. Maybe I need to drink more water??
I know a lot of people say that you have to give YAZ, a good few weeks to really notice changes, and for your body to really get used it it. Then I hear things level out more. As for my PMDD, it’s to early too tell yet, I think. I do however feel tired in the afternoons. I take my pill in the morning, so does that have anything to do with it?
For the record: I have not been diagnosed by my doctor with PMDD, so it’s really a self diagnosis. (One reason being my last visit was not with my personal doctor, but a nurse. I went in for a PAP and I mentioned my symptoms (but I guess I really didn’t elaborate), but since have done more reading, and have come to realize what it is.) I am pretty much 100% sure that it what it is. If Yaz has no effect on it, or if things are worse–after giving it a try for 3 months, then I will talk to my doctor about other options. When that time comes, IF it does, I surely hope I won’t have to wait months to get an appointment(which is why I saw a nurse the last time. GRRR!) 🙁
I’m not sure I am 100% comfortable letting everyone know what I am going through, because it is personal. However, this is MY blog and I do like to put things down for reference as well. Who knows, maybe someone else who is taking YAZ, or has the same problems may relate…
I will post more on PMDD later. I haven’t blogged about my symptoms or PMDD at all (until now). I guess I feel it is still somewhat a personal thing.

I have horror stories about Yaz – I went on it right after I had Iris. You probably wouldn’t want to know the details. I gave it 3 months and then said “forget it” and threw it in the trash. It just wasn’t for me. Just pay close attention to your body and if anything seems weird, tell your doctor. I was having all sorts of problems but I never put 2 & 2 together that it was the Yaz causing them. I’ll give you the rundown of the side effects I experienced:
• weight gain
• headaches
• fatigue
• dizziness
• numbness
• severe stomach cramping/diarrhea (sorry, TMI, but it was so bad I’d be up all night and thought I was going to die, this was on top of recovering from my c-section, it was awful 🙁 )
I also had many withdrawal symptoms after I stopped taking it. Just thought I’d share my experience with you in case you notice anything weird.
Oh I also had the nausea AND it dried my skin out so bad that it was flaking off around my eyes 🙁
Hi, I came across your blog after a Google search and thought I’d reply (although it’s about a month old now).
I started Yaz three weeks ago and everything went great at first until I started my period. I am taking it to regulate my cramps and bleeding and for three days I was never so nauseous or in so much pain. The cramps have gotten a little better but the weird thing is that my period will stop for a few hours and then be REALLY heavy for about 9 hours and this has happened for 6 days. Before, my period was heavy and cramps were bad but the thing that got me through was knowing it would only last 3 days 🙁
Despite all this, my skin has gotten pretty clear, my chest is HUGE(!!!)…we’ll see if my feelings about that change..and although the cramps have gotten me into a bad mood I feel like my mood is stable now.
The other thing is that I’ve had ringing in my ears that is nothing more than distracting (for now).
I think you should give it a chance unless there’s something that you know FOR SURE isn’t normal. But I’m not a physician (just a mere nursing student) so, what do I know?
I wish you the best of luck!
