Our Easter Weekend

It was a great weekend! On Saturday we colored eggs. It was a lot of fun! This year instead of buying the little dye kit, I just used the vinegar and food coloring we already had at home. The eggs came out so pretty & vibrant! Later on in the afternoon we had our very own egg hunt in the back yard. We actually did several egg hunts…lol..the girls love it so much, there HAS to be more than one! 🙂

Of course the true meaning of Easter was not lost on us. I explained to the girls it’s fun to have Easter baskets, candy & egg hunts–but that’s not what Easter is really about. They already knew this, as we have talked about it, they have learned it in church, and my oldest also has learned it in Awana Club. I am so happy that my girls know about Jesus. On Easter Sunday—I heard my daughter Jacey (the 5 1/2 yr old) say to her dad…”You know, Jesus died on the cross”. It was just a random statement she made to her dad while she was playing. It was also like she was filling him in on something that he didn’t know yet….the way she said it. It was so cute! It’s good to know that what we and the church are teaching her is actually sinking in. 😉

Easter Sunday was church service, and they did not have the kids’ service that morning. Of course this was the morning that Jadyn (my 3 yr old) wanted to be chatty..lol. I took her out to the lobby. She insisted that she did not want to go in the nursery. I guess ever since she turned 3, she knows she can go to “big kids” church and not have to go into the nursery anymore. 😉 It wasn’t all bad, I could hear the service through the speaker system in the church–out in the lobby area.
We had a nice ham dinner at home afterwards and pretty much just relaxed the remainder of the day. Earlier that morning-before church, the girls got their Easter baskets, and they were really wanting some chocolate after dinner. I let them have a bit of candy. This year, I didn’t put too much candy in their baskets. I filled it with other things they like….like books, etc… (see pic).

It was a great weekend that just went by too fast!
