With the holidays approaching fast, we will all be super busy in the kitchen. What better way to spice things up and enjoy that time more, than with Netflix.

We've all heard of Netflix, right? Well, they make it easier than ever to watch movies anytime and anywhere. With all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it's great to have the option to watch your favorite show or movie right in the kitchen, in the midst of all of the preparations. Netflix is portable! You can stream on your tv, or you can stream right on your mobile device-whether it be your phone, ipad or other tablet. Get everyone involved. I'm sure with a great movie streaming close-by, you won't be short of kitchen help! 🙂

Have you heard of the show "Orange is the New Black?" Well, in honor of that show, Chef Curtis Stone has created a great cocktail with orange liqueur and orange zest! It is simple and quick to make. In fact, I made this cocktail just this past weekend, and really enjoyed it! It's a new take on the White Russian. This version is in honor of  the character "Red" from the show "Orange is the New Black."

Red's Orange White Russian

From Curtis Stone himself:  "I couldn’t resist creating a recipe inspired by the character Red on the Netflix hit show “Orange is the New Black”…she is a chef, after all. This version of the classic White Russian cocktail includes orange liqueur and orange zest. Orange truly is the new black!"

Serves: 1

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 0 minutes

Make-Ahead: This cocktail is best served as soon as it is made.

Ingredients

Ice cubes

1/4 cup Kahlúa

2 tablespoons vodka

1 tablespoon Cointreau

2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

1 navel orange

Method

  • Fill a rocks glass halfway with ice cubes. Add the Kahlúa, vodka, and Cointreau and gently stir to blend.
  • Pour the cream over so that it floats on top of the Kahlúa mixture. Using a fine grater, grate some orange zest on top. Serve immediately.

Looks pretty tasty, huh?

This was a fun cocktail to make!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and there will be plenty more recipes made in my kitchen. I plan on using Netflix streaming services to make the time more enjoyable–especially for my kids. Disney's "PLANES" will be coming out soon. My girls are really looking forward to that movie! Around the holidays there are always movie favorites that we like to watch, as well as new movies. Netflix will surely be in our kitchen with us during the holidays! 🙂

What movies are you looking forward to seeing?
