Colorful ice ornaments!

This is such a fun winter project! A great activity to do when you’re stuck inside due to the cold weather. Here in North Dakota, we have a lot of those days in the winter. I’m talking negative temperatures! {yikes!} The actual fun part of this activity is breaking open those balloons and revealing your beautiful colored ball of ice! It also is a neat way to teach your kids about solids and liquids. 😉
We actually did this a few years ago as well. This year we did a lot more…maybe around 25. It’s fun to make different colors and place them around the yard. 😀

Just take some water balloons, add a few drops of food coloring inside of them and fill them with water. Tie them and sit them outside to freeze. When they are frozen, tear off the balloon to reveal your colored ice ornament. 🙂

Careful, as the food coloring can rub off on your hands and/or clothes.
