How To Stay Warm When In Church

lifestyle Article

Going to church is a brilliant time of the week as it’s a chance to reunite with your local community and come together in worship. Whether you choose to go on Sundays only, or to any services during the week, there comes a point where it can be slightly uncomfortable. Well, more specifically, churches get really cold during the winter, due to how they’re built. Most churches have really high ceilings and were built a long time ago, so they get cold very quickly. Not to forget the doors are often left open to let everyone get inside quickly.

ReadSigns You Should Ditch a Bad Friend

You don’t want to skip church, but you also don’t want to freeze while worshiping. It’s also bad for your health to be cold for too long, making some of you debate whether or not you should go to church during the winter. Thankfully, you don’t have to make a tough decision – all you need to do is learn how to stay warm at church.

Wear thermal layers

It can be quite rude to sit in church with a thick coat on the whole time. It gives off the sense that you’re in a rush and ready to leave. In reality, the coat is on because you want to stay warm! Don’t worry, there’s a way around this: wear your extra layer underneath your clothes. Get some thermal layering and you’ll be wrapped up warm without needing to keep your coat on. It’s less rude and probably more effective.

Wear gloves and thick socks

If for whatever reason, you can’t wear thermal layers under your clothing, another option is to wear gloves and thick socks. I always find that, when my hands and feet are cold, the rest of me is cold. Conversely, when they’re warm, you stay warm. So, put on a pair of extra thick socks to keep your feet nice and toasty while you’re standing and sitting through a sermon. Likewise, keep your gloves on so your hands don’t freeze in the winter chill. You can also buy hand warmers, which are small devices that stay warm in your hands. You can hold these for some added warmth.

Raise money for a better heating system

The reason churches are so cold is that few have good heating systems. There might not even be any heaters on the walls, or there could be some small electric ones. In either case, you’re better off with a much-improved system. So, you can encourage the community to come together and raise money for a better heating system. Many companies offer HVAC system installation for churches, so your church can have a system that keeps it warm in winter and cool in summer. It shouldn’t be hard to get people to donate for this, provided the church approves of your idea. There’s no reason they shouldn’t, but always make sure you check before you start collecting any donations.

With these three tips, you should be able to handle the cold while in your place of worship. Now, you don’t have to worry about sitting still in the freezing cold while you’re at church. Ideally, the third solution will come to pass, making life even easier for everyone.

Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?
