Book Review [Church of Lies]

Below is my (short) review of “Church of Lies” at Goodreads.com. This is the 2nd book I’ve read about the FLDS. I find the subject interesting in part because it is so hard to believe the way they lived, and what the women & children endured. When I say hard to believe, I mean it’s almost too much for a person to wrap their mind around it. It’s good to read stories of triumph and how someone can escape that life.

Although the story overall was good, the grammar and language was a bit much. There were a couple of places in the book where what she describes is pretty graphic, and I didn’t really need to have those images in my mind (molestation). I understand that she was trying to be honest & tell all…but still a bit graphic in parts. Interesting story, nonetheless.

So, I liked the book. There were parts I didn’t care for and language I didn’t care for, but overall the story of “escape” was good to read. It amazes me that people could live that way, and is heartwarming to know they can move forward and have a real life.

There was another book similar to this that I’ve read that was very good. It’s called “ESCAPE” and it’s by Carolyn Jessop.
